Lever uses Stripe to handle card payments — the same system used by millions of businesses. You connect your own Stripe account, so every dollar a customer pays lands in your bank account. Lever never holds your money and never sees a card number.
Before you start
Stripe has to verify it’s really you before it can send you money. That’s standard for any payment processor.
- The bank account where you want your payouts to land.
- A photo ID (driver’s license or passport).
No Stripe account yet? You don’t need one first — you’ll create it as you go.
Connect your account
Open your payment settings
In Lever, open the menu and go to Settings → Payments.

This takes you to Stripe’s secure setup screen. You’re leaving Lever for a minute — that’s on purpose. Your bank and ID details go straight to Stripe, never through us.

Enter your name, your business type (sole trader / individual is fine if it’s just you), and the bank account for payouts. Stripe may ask you to snap a photo of your ID to confirm it’s you. Take your time — getting this right means no payout hold-ups later.
Land back in Lever
When Stripe’s done, it drops you straight back into Lever. You’ll see a green Connected badge on your payment settings. That’s it — you can get paid now.

Turn it on for a quote
Once you’re connected, every quote and invoice you send automatically gets a Pay button for your customer — nothing extra to switch on. Want a deposit up front before you start a job? Set that in Settings → Payment terms.
A deposit is the single best way to stop no-shows and cover your materials. Even 25% up front changes how seriously a customer treats the booking. See Set deposits & payment terms.
What your customer sees
Simple: they open your quote, tap Pay, and enter their card. No account to make, no app to download. The moment it clears, you get a notification — and it shows as paid on the quote.
When you get paid
Payouts go to your connected bank on Stripe’s normal schedule — usually a couple of business days after the first payment, then rolling after that. You can see every payment and payout any time in your Stripe dashboard.
Two small cuts come out of each card payment before it lands in your bank: Stripe’s standard processing fee, and a 0.75% Lever fee. Your customer always pays exactly the amount you quoted — the fees come off your side, never added to theirs. Your $9.99/month subscription is separate from all of this.
